EIBTM chooses speaker to present keynote address

After its first successful launch in 2012, the EIBTM Forum, sponsored by Poland Convention Bureau, is gearing up for a second round on Nov. 18. Facilitated by Nadine Dereza, the opening session will set the tone for three days of business, education and networking.

Headlining the Forum in Barcelona, Spain, EIBTM has invited esteemed speaker James Woudhuysen, professor of forecasting and innovation, De Montfort University, Leicester to present his keynote session “A New Perspective on the Meetings Industry.”

“James is renowned for his ability to spot trends and offer counter-intuitive proposals on what to do about them,” said Graeme Barnett, senior exhibition director, Reed Travel Exhibitions. “Occasionally controversial, wonderfully insightful, we hope this opening session of EIBTM will leave you inspired and motivated to do business as we open the show for 2013.”

The session will be followed by the presentation of the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) Power and Profile Award, which was established by the Council as a way of recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the awareness and influence of the meetings industry in their respective communities.

The EIBTM Forum will also be the platform for the presentation of the second “EIBTM Lifetime Achievement Award,” which will be given to a figurehead of the international meetings industry in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the sector.

The Forum will be followed by an exclusive invitation-only networking event held at the Rey Juan Carlos, Barcelona. EIBTM 2013 will take place Nov. 19 – 21.
