European Incentives and Business Travel Meeting (EIBTM), a global event for the meetings and events industry, expects to significantly exceed the 17,300 appointments from EIBTM 2013 within one of the busiest areas of the exhibition, The Global Village.
The Global Village, a platform for those looking to build MICE business globally, is increasingly popular for international brands to meet with those seeking to secure global business contracts as well as expand their reach regionally.
“In 2013, the EIBTM Global Village welcomed over 780 companies: 53 percent of which were hotels, 42 percent destination management companies and the remainder comprising cruise lines and airline alliances amongst others. Of the 65,000 meetings facilitated by EIBTM 2013 overall, over 17,300 appointments were pre-scheduled between exhibitors and Hosted Buyers in the Global Village,” stated Graeme Barnett, senior exhibition director, EIBTM, Reed Travel Exhibitions.
EIBTM Global Village is a business solution for hotel groups, destination management companies, cruise lines and airline alliances as well as car rental and train companies operating globally to promote their products and services to over 15,000 meeting and event professionals. Last year, 79 percent of Hosted Buyers were interested in building business with hotels, 70 percent with DMCs and over 65 percent of those top buyers had annual budgets of between US$ 500,000 and US$ 10 million for meetings and events.
“Exhibiting in the EIBTM Global Village enables Hyatt Hotels & Resorts to highlight our international hotel product offerings to the event’s Hosted Buyers and is therefore of enormous value to us,” commented Brendan Dwyer, regional vice president Global Sales – UK/Ireland & France, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. “Our exhibiting partners receive an excellent number of qualified leads during and after the show, so we do see a great return on investment in attending EIBTM and participating within the Global Village. The event is a ‘must show’ for us to remain a competitive player in the MICE industry and to showcase and promote our global portfolio.”
Companies that attended EIBTM 2013 and are returning this year to take part within the Global Village include Accor Hotels, Kempinski Hotels, Marriott Hotels International, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Melia Hotels International, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Corinthia Hotels International, Dolce Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide, SkyTeam Global Airlines Alliance, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn Cruise Line, Kuoni Travel, Wedgewood DMC Group, Abercrombie & Kent, Pacific World Global DMC and more.
“EIBTM is an excellent platform to do business, and it is a great opportunity to expose the companies’ brand. Last year, the quality of meetings was fantastic; we met Hosted Buyers from emerging markets (Brazil, Russia and Poland), with a good amount of business, and we received great sales leads from key players, including UK and France. Once again, it has been an outstanding show with a good return on investment, networking opportunities and last but not least an educational program. We are very much looking forward to participate again this year,” said Patricia Silvio, global marketing manager, Pacific World.
EIBTM provides exhibitors with an exclusive opportunity to conduct business face-to-face with global Hosted Buyers from the top 10 economies currently generating the world’s highest GDP, in addition to those ranked to feature in this list up to 2050. These include the U.S., Asia, Africa, South America, Brazil, Mexico and India.
