Emerald Expositions, one of the largest show organizers in the world, just became a little bigger with the acquisition of the National Pavement Expo, a 30-year-old show designed for paving and pavement maintenance professionals next scheduled for Nashville, Tennessee, Feb., 1-4, 2017. The purchase was made for an undisclosed sum from AC Business Media, which has numerous brands in the heavy construction, asphalt, concrete, paving, rental, sustainability, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain markets.
Officials say that AC Business Media will retain ownership of Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction magazine, which is the official publishing partner of NPE. But the acquisition of the show will allow Emerald Expositions to further morph from the design market to the design and construction market. The organizer produces more than 80 trade shows and conferences and 100 face-to-face events in 10 markets including the gift, home and general merchandise, sports and apparel, licensing, jewelry, luxury and antiques, creative services, healthcare, food, military, and technology and ecommerce. The organization has acquired several shows recently, including the Digital Dealer Conference & Expo, Swim Collective, and Active Collective.
