EventPath kiosks speed up registration at I/ITSEC

The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) utilized Smart City’s EventPath service to streamline registration at the annual conference held last week at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., by enabling attendees the opportunity to check-in via convenient kiosks at nearby hotels.

For the second year, I/ITSEC reduced registration lines at the convention center by using EventPath for remote registration at three nearby hotels, including the Peabody Orlando, the Hilton Orlando and the Rosen Center Hotel.

EventPath connects convention centers to area hotels by providing a range of communication solutions that enhance event experiences for convention exhibitors and attendees.

More than 1,100 attendees used the remote registration system of EventPath, significantly reducing check-in lines at the convention center and saving on labor needed to process in-person registration requests.

Attendees could check-in remotely via kiosks conveniently located at the three participating hotels. The kiosks, provided by third-party registration companies, connect to the EventPath system and allow attendees to check-in for the conference in real-time.

“We saw how well the system worked last year, greatly reducing the time people had to wait in line to receive their registration materials, and wanted to provide attendees the same convenient check-in option again this year with EventPath” said Barbara McDaniel, I/ITSEC coordinator and director of conferences and programs for the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA).

“We are pleased to offer the integrated services of EventPath that can connect attendees at local hotels with the conference experience going on at the OCCC,” said Yulita Osuba, senior director of sales, marketing, event management and exhibitor services at the Orange County Convention Center. “Remote registration is just one way EventPath can make basic conference tasks more convenient.”

Utilizing high-speed fiber connections, EventPath creates an integrated convention district network between a convention center and participating hotels in the surrounding area to provide events, exhibitors and attendees with a more effective way to communicate and conduct business.

In addition to the remote registration serve, hotels that are part of the EventPathnetwork can offer a wide range of convention services such as:

  • Integrated interactive digital signage providing real-time event information to hotel rooms
  • Integrated Wi-Fi between the convention center and hotel to provide a seamless browsing experience for attendees
  • Access to convention and booth resources from both the tradeshow floor and hotel rooms.
  • Videocasting and video conferencing extension.
