The Australian Event Awards is the national awards program for the events industry. It is the only opportunity for event professionals to compete directly across the nation, and across all facets of the industry, to establish which are Australia’s best events and event-related goods, services and innovations.
Due to the difficulties of COVID-19, the 2020 Australian Event Awards was held as four simultaneous ceremonies in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with Victorian finalists able to join via zoom. This eliminated the need for anyone to travel or quarantine in order to attend the awards and allowed the ceremonies to be run in a COVID-safe manner. Each event included a three-course dinner, live entertainment and a face-to-face gathering alongside the awards ceremony itself. Video link-up technology was also used to bring, not only the industry in each room together, but the national industry together too and allowed everyone to celebrate as one.
“Assisting clients in the delivery of quality online events is becoming more and more important in the current environment,” says one of the judges. “Congratulations on bringing an integrated planning solution that supports virtual events into the market.”
Peter Rix AM, co-chair of the judging panel, adds, “Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. The quality of the entries has meant a very high-scoring year, significantly higher than previous years and the judges have definitely had their work cut out for them.”
