ExCeL London, a UK-based exhibition and conference venue, welcomed its 20 millionth visitor on June 18, during London Tech Week and The Protection and Management Series.
The venue celebrated this milestone by presenting Adrian Jones, a partner at Trowers & Hamlins with a special prize presented by ExCeL London CEO David Pegler.
“This is a fantastic achievement for ExCeL London and underpins our ambition to be the home of world leading events. Since opening in 2000, we have hosted over 4,500 events and welcomed 20 million people from every corner of the globe,” said Pegler. “In 2013, we celebrated our most successful year to date, which resulted in an economic impact of £2.9 billion for London and supported 31,000 jobs nationally. We look forward to the continued success of our customers’ events and anticipate that we will welcome our 30 millionth visitor within the next three years.”
ExCeL London has hosted trade and consumer exhibitions, conferences, sales meetings, product launches, AGMs, associations, gala dinners, award ceremonies, sporting events and religious festivals. More than 7 million people from over 200 different countries have visited the venue. ExCeL London was acquired by ADNEC, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company in 2008.
“This was a wonderful surprise for me when I arrived at ExCeL London this morning to attend The Tech Transformation Forum. To be ExCeL’s 20 millionth visitor is a great honor and a fantastic achievement for the venue. I’m looking forward to enjoying the prize package that ExCeL has awarded me,” said Jones.
