Excel London says its £220 million expansion, about $296 million in U.S. dollars, generated new event business and visitor spending during its first year of operation.
The 25,000-square-meter addition hosted 30 major international events within 12 months. Together, those events used 500,000 square meters of rented space.
The expansion increased Excel London’s total event space to 125,000 square meters. The venue describes itself as Europe’s largest fully integrated conference and exhibition facility.

Ten congresses generate about $337 million
Excel says 10 international congresses held in the expansion welcomed 100,000 delegates. Those events generated an estimated £250 million, or about $337 million, for London’s visitor economy.
Across its full campus, Excel reports an annual economic contribution of about £4.6 billion, or $6.2 billion, to London. The venue hosts about 400 events and welcomes approximately four million visitors each year.
Excel opened the new space in summer 2025 with an event from the all-electric Formula E racing series. Owner ADNEC Group supported the project in response to demand for larger and more complex events.
U.S. organizations drive convention business
U.S.-based organizations now account for 60 percent of Excel London’s convention and congress business, according to the venue.
American companies using London for European conferences include Amazon, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Gartner.
Cisco Live will also return to Excel London in 2027 under a new multiyear agreement. The technology conference plans to use the entire venue.
In addition, Excel has confirmed seven international congresses for 2027. That follows a record 10 international congresses scheduled for 2026.
“London is continuing to win major international events from across North America and Europe, far beyond what we expected when we first greenlit our expansion back in 2021,” said James Rees, executive director of Excel London. “In short, it’s been nothing short of transformational, with not only an increase in the number of events but also their size, scale and complexity.”
More venue investment planned
Excel London says it is preparing another multimillion-pound investment program. The venue did not provide a total, timeline, or full project list.
The work will focus on facility upgrades and the delegate experience as competition for international events grows across Europe and the United States.
ADNEC Group has invested about £350 million, or $471 million, in Excel London and related projects in recent years. That broader program includes the 25,000-square-meter expansion and the acquisition of London’s Business Design Centre.

Excel London is a conference and exhibition venue in London’s Royal Docks. The ADNEC Group-owned facility hosts approximately 400 events and four million visitors each year. For more information, visit www.excel.london.
