ExCeL, the exhibitions and international convention center in Custom House, East London announced that the 96th General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research, in conjunction with the IADR Pan European Regional Congress, took place at ExCeL London July 25-28 and brought more than 5,000 dental, oral and craniofacial researchers to the capital.
“We are delighted to be the host venue for the IADR General Session and welcoming delegates,” says Andrew Swanston, head of sales, ExCeL London. “This is a significant event that will be supported by ExCeL’s close location to renowned research and medical facilities in the city. London is not only a world leader in life sciences but is also a creative hub where there is always something new to see and do. We have worked closely with the IADR to understand their specific objectives, helping them to deliver a successful event for their delegates.”
ExCeL staff note that the IADR is only the latest medical association to select London and ExCeL as a host venue. Other recent successes have included record-breaking events for both the European Association of Urology (March 2017) and the Alzheimer’s Association (July 2017). London has secured its reputation as one of the world-leading centers for Life Sciences with the city being at the heart of the “Golden Triangle” of medical research, which links the British capital’s leading research institutions, with Oxford and Cambridge.
“London is a world class center for life sciences and medical research,” says Suzanne Singleton, head of associations at London Convention Bureau. “With some of the best research facilities, leading universities, and a high concentration of internationally renowned experts, London is an ideal location to host the International Association for Dental Research. London is also a truly global city full of creative energy, providing lots of opportunities for delegates to experience a range of cultural activities while they are here. We look forward to welcoming over 5,000 visitors to the capital and the IADR’s decision to host their event at ExCeL London offers further proof that London is a leading international destination for medical association events.”
The IADR is a non-profit organization with nearly 11,000 members worldwide. Its mission is to advance research and increase knowledge for the improvement of oral health worldwide, support and represent the oral health research community and facilitate the communication and application of research findings.
“During the 2018 IADR General Session & Exhibition, dental, oral and craniofacial researchers will travel from around the world and gather in London to present their research, learn about the latest advances and network with peers,” says IADR President Angus William G. Walls, director of Edinburgh Dental Institute at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. “We are thrilled that the 2018 IADR General Session & Exhibition is in London. These meetings are invaluable for our members and for the field of dental, oral and craniofacial research.”
The IADR General Session & Exhibition 2018 provided scientists and researchers with the opportunity to present, discuss and critique their investigations. Planned events included scientific group symposia, hands-on workshops, lunch & learning sessions, keynote speakers, special events and receptions and an exhibition of companies and universities specializing in the dental, oral and craniofacial research field.
