Excel London reports a 60 percent increase in the number of U.S.-based events it has hosted over the past 18 months, with major technology companies accounting for 55 percent of those events.
The venue shared the figures during IMEX America in Las Vegas. Its Oct. 19 announcement did not provide the underlying event counts or specify the comparison period used to calculate the increase.
U.S. BUSINESS CROSSES THE ATLANTIC
Excel cited Amazon, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Gartner among the companies staging major events at the venue. Cisco will follow in early 2027, taking exclusive use of the entire 125,000-square-meter facility, approximately 1.3 million square feet.
Alongside those large bookings, Excel Executive Director James Rees said the venue is seeing demand for smaller events.
“As well as seeing brands choose London for their flagship European events, we are also witnessing a growing trend for hosting a series of smaller, standalone events or roadshows, drawn by the city’s connectivity, infrastructure, talent and ability to attract global audiences,” Rees said.
MORE ROOM, MORE BOOKINGS
The venue’s recently opened International Convention Centre (ICC) expansion adds 25,000 square meters, approximately 270,000 square feet. According to Excel, the new space has already hosted more than 30 major international events, generating a cumulative 500,000 square meters of rented space across those bookings.
Excel put the expansion investment at £220 million. It forms part of a wider £350 million investment program that also includes the acquisition of London’s Business Design Centre.
Rees said demand extends beyond the number of bookings to the size, scale, and complexity of events. He also pointed to investment in hotels and the Elizabeth line rail connection as factors supporting London’s ability to host international audiences.
The U.S. business figures add to a broader operation that hosts approximately 400 events and welcomes around four million visitors annually, according to the venue.
Excel London, part of ADNEC Group, is a conference and exhibition venue in London’s Royal Docks. It opened in 2000 and also operates the Immerse LDN entertainment district on its waterfront. For more information, visit excel.london.
