EXPO PACK México sells out show floor

From Jun. 17–20, EXPO PACK México 2014 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City will open with a sold-out show floor at 200,000 net square feet and over 1,000 exhibitors, according to show owner and producer PMMI, the association for packaging and processing technologies.

“It’s going to be a busy, high-energy exposition,” said Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI. “Every available bit of booth space is accounted for. Considering the level of enthusiasm in the Mexican marketplace as a whole, that’s not surprising.”

The U.S. Census Bureau Quarterly Import/Export Statistics for the fourth quarter of 2013 showed Mexican manufacturers as the second-largest importers of U.S. packaging and processing machinery, importing $70.3 million in processing equipment and $153.7 million in packaging machinery — increases of 17.16 percent and 15.82 percent, respectively, over year-end 2012.

PMMI expects nearly 30,000 packaging and processing professionals representing a host of manufacturing markets, including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics and personal care to attend this year’s edition of EXPO PACK México.

Show floor features will include pavilions focused on food processing, pharmaceuticals and AMEE award winners. EXPO PACK Verde, now in its fifth year, will indicate products that support a sustainable supply chain.

“EXPO PACK México will reflect the international marketplace, with leading original equipment manufacturers from all over the world,” Yuska added. “The PMMI Pavilion features 82 PMMI member companies, and our international pavilions represent Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Spain and the United States.”

AMEE, the Mexican packaging association, will present a full conference program and Packaging Congress, as well as its Envases Estelares and Sustainable Packaging Awards, during the show, and EXPO PACK México 2014 also has the support of CANIPEC, the Mexican Chamber for the Cosmetics Industry, CANIFARMA, Mexican Chamber for the Pharmaceutical Industry, and CANAINCA, the Mexican Chamber of Processed Foods.

“It’s the largest packaging and processing exposition in Latin America,” Yuska said. “But what makes EXPO PACK México great isn’t its size; it’s the quality of the exhibitors and the innovations and insights they provide. If you’re a leader in packaging and processing — a supplier or an end user — you need to be there.”
