Fern, a leading provider of trade show, exhibition, and event services, recently established the Paul Katz Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor long-time client Paul Katz. The fund will award scholarships to nontraditional undergraduate and graduate students at the University or Oregon (UO).
Katz was the Exhibits and Registration Manager for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Senior Associate Director, Continuing and Professional Education and Director of Conference Services at the University of Oregon. Fern (originally as its wholly-owned subsidiary, NexxtShow) has been the official services contractor for ISTE’s annual conference and expo, ISTE Live, for over a decade, and Katz became a close friend of Fern during his tenure with the association.
“Paul was not only our client for many years, he also became a good friend. As busy as he was he always made time to talk not just about work, but also about life in general. I enjoyed many visits with Paul where we primarily discussed the various accomplishments of our children and other non-business aspects of life. Paul was a constantly curious and caring person who I greatly admired. He certainly impacted many and is missed,” says Aaron Bludworth, President & CEO of Fern.
“The establishment of this scholarship is a remarkable way to not only memorialize the long-standing partnership between organizations, but also to honor Paul’s background and character while supporting the University’s non-traditional student demographic for many years to come,” says Caitlin Snyder, Director of Conference Services, Continuing and Professional Education at the University of Oregon.
