G2E 2012 records significant growth in attendance

After conducting an extensive, annual audit, the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions recently released attendance figures and post-show survey results for Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2012, revealing that the event generated overwhelming interest and satisfaction from gaming industry professionals from around the world.

Attendees and exhibitors gave G2E high marks in 2012.

G2E attracted 15,708 attendees, a year-over-year increase of almost 7 percent, to its 2012 event. Total attendance at G2E 2012, which includes attendees and exhibitors, also saw year-over-year growth, increasing to more than 24,820.

G2E is the premier tradeshow and conference event for the international gaming entertainment industry. The 2012 event was held Oct. 4-6 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“We are extremely pleased with the tremendous increase in attendance at G2E 2012’s tradeshow and conference events, and we are encouraged by what these numbers indicate about the current health of the gaming industry,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the AGA. “We also are thrilled with the post-show survey results, which verify that we are achieving our primary goal; to provide gaming professionals with the valuable tools, knowledge and business opportunities they need to be successful in the global gaming industry.”

In the post-show survey, more than four out of five (82 percent) G2E 2012 attendees said that they were very or completely satisfied with the 2012 event, and more than three-quarters (78 percent) said they are very or extremely likely to return to G2E.

G2E exhibitors also expressed that they were highly satisfied with the 2012 event. The show floor featured more than 430 exhibitors in nearly 262,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 17,000 square foot increase over 2011. A vast majority (83 percent) of exhibitors said they were very or completely satisfied with the event, an increase of nearly 15 percent over the 2011 event, and nearly all (93 percent) said they are very or extremely likely to return to G2E.

G2E 2013 will be held Sept. 24-26 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. To date, more than 240 companies have registered for over 245,000 square feet of exhibit hall space. This includes more than 40 international exhibitors with exhibit space exceeding 50,000 square feet. These numbers are tracking well ahead of the 2012 event at the same time last year.

Listening to exhibitors’ requests, show organizers have adjusted the event dates beginning in 2014 to allow for adequate time to build and take down exhibits on the show floor.

“G2E is a large, complex tradeshow with many elaborate booths,” said Courtney Muller, senior vice president at Reed. “One of the key requirements voiced by our exhibitors is ample move-in and move-out times, so we have adjusted the 2014 and 2015 event dates to provide our exhibitors with the additional time they need.”
