GBTA goes mobile for annual convention

For the second consecutive year, QuickMobile and the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) have partnered to provide attendees at the 2011 GBTA Convention with a mobile event application (app). The mobile event app, which is sponsored by Freeman, is designed to run on the iPhone and iPad and will provide Convention attendees with anytime, anywhere access to real-time information and the ability to connect and network with colleagues and other conference attendees from their smart devices.

The 2011 GBTA Convention is taking place August 21-24, 2011, in Denver, Colo., has more than 400 exhibitors and is expected to attract more than 6,000 attendees. The mobile event iPhone and iPad app is available free of charge through the iTunes store. Attendees with other devices can access the Convention’s mobile website at http://m.gbta.org.
“In 2010, QuickMobile helped us to create an interactive and engaging mobile solution that our tech-savvy audience really embraced, which made returning to QuickMobile for this year’s event an easy decision,” said Ed Silver, GBTA’s senior vice president, Operations.  “In addition to all the capabilities of last year’s mobile event app, we have added new personalization features and networking functionality that will provide our attendees with an even better experience. The QuickMobile mobile event app has added a new dimension to our annual conventions providing a way for us to communicate with our attendees, and allowing our attendees to connect with each other in ways that extend beyond the event’s hours and days.”
Among the new features of this year’s app are:
-Expo Map – Detailed tradeshow floor map, which provides attendees access to exhibitors’ names and contact information by simply clicking on the booth number.
-My Schedule –Provides attendees with the ability to create a personalized conference schedule that is 100 percent synchronized to their web based schedule.
-Bump! – An interactive data exchange that gives conference attendees the opportunity to exchange their contact information by ‘bumping’ their devices together.
The 2011 GBTA Convention Mobile event app also offers access to the program agenda, speaker details and news; a searchable attendee list; and videos on GBTA-TV. Users can share their own experiences through photos and videos via Twitter (hashtag #GBTA11), Facebook, and a photo gallery that is integrated with GBTA’s Flickr stream. Attendees can use the mobile event app’s searchable database to find colleagues and reach out to other attendees with a built-in messaging feature.
“GBTA is always looking for innovative ways to enhance the attendee experience and is using our mobile event expertise and technology to take engagement and networking to a new level,” said Patrick Payne, chief executive officer of QuickMobile. “This year’s GBTA convention will use numerous interactive features such as in-app messaging, interactive Expo map, integrated search, photo gallery and several new networking capabilities such as ‘Bump’ to ensure a great mobile experience for sponsors, exhibitors and attendees. We are fortunate to work with innovative partners such as GBTA and look forward to building upon our relationship and the success of both last year’s and this year’s mobile event app and convention.”
