The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) awarded the First Year Scholarship to an employee with Saint Charles Convention Center, which is one of the public assembly venues managed by Global Spectrum.
Using the scholarship to attend Venue Management School is Jennifer Wirtz, event and exhibitor services manager. The scholarship is awarded to a member of IAVM based on the applicant’s progression of professional development as demonstrated by his or her work history and career objectives.
“We are very proud and excited to see Jennifer’s continued hard work and dedication with Global Spectrum and the Saint Charles Convention Center pay off in the form of this scholarship, ” said Shura Garnett, general manager, Saint Charles Convention Center; regional vice president, Global Spectrum. “We look forward to Jennifer’s continued contributions to the center and the industry as a whole as she pursues her career within venue management.”
The Venue Management School educates public assembly venue professionals across the globe. The program takes place for one week in each of two consecutive years, each week providing intensive instruction in all areas of venue management. Governed by the IAVM Board of Regents, the program is held at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in West Virginia.
Beginning with a part-time position, Wirtz worked her way through Exhibitor Services and Event coordination to her current position. She handles corporate meetings, tradeshows, consumer shows, dance/cheer competitions and other special events.
