A general manager for the Global Spectrum-managed South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) in Canada will be expanding his duties by becoming a regional vice president.
In addition to day-to-day operations in Penticton, British Columbia, Dean Clarke will oversee two other Global Spectrum-managed facilities in the Canadian province, including the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek and the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre in Abbotsford.
“Dean has done a tremendous job for Global Spectrum in Penticton, increasing the profile of the venue, booking new events and generating positive revenue for the City of Penticton,” said John Page, chief operating officer, Global Spectrum. “His regional expertise in the western Canadian market has proven to be critical and with Global Spectrum’s continued growth in Canada.”
During Clarke’s leadership at the South Okanagan Events Centre and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, Global Spectrum expanded booking relationships within the facilities, positioned Penticton as a “Top Stop” for Canadian mid-sized venues, confirmed multiple first-time events within both facilities and won the Chamber of Commerce 2012 Business of the Year Award.
“We are pleased with the direction the South Okanagan Events Centre and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre have taken over the past three years under Dean’s leadership,” said Annette Antoniak, chief administrative officer, City of Penticton. “We look forward to his continued leadership and growth. His expanded role will be nothing but positive for the City of Penticton. We would like to congratulate him on his promotion with Global Spectrum.”
Prior to his move to Penticton in 2010, Clarke served as assistant general manager and then general manager for Prospera Place in Kelowna, B.C.; manager of operations at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto; and operations supervisor of the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.
