The U.K.-based WeMakeEvents is asking for industry help to create a social media storm with their new campaign: The Government can’t see us, can you? They are building a wall of people on their new microsite to help the government see the people who work in live events and they invite tradeshow and event industry folks to add themselves to the wall by filling out the form and uploading a picture for the collage.
As they explain, “It has been almost a year since the first lockdown. A year since live events have not been allowed to take place, and people working in the industry have had no way to earn their living. But the Government can’t see us, and all too often, we have been excluded from their support schemes—leaving us without the help we’ve needed to survive, and without a pathway to reopening. Today we launch our new campaign and microsite, and we need your help!”
They invite you to click on their new microsite, download their social media assets and share them as many times as you can on all your social platforms.
#GovCantSeeUs Social Media Storm
As the Government sits down to thrash out the March 3rd budget, and decide who and how they’ll help, they want to create a “Social Media Storm so visible they finally see us.” Use hashtags #GovCantSeeUs and #WeMakeEvents.
Tag decision makers to make sure they see your post. The ones we think matter the most are: @RishiSunak @KwasiKwarteng @oliverdowden @10DowningStreet @BorisJohnson @HMtreasury @CommonsDCMS @CommonsBEIS
Tag celebrities, artists, and anyone else who you think will want to help the crew behind live events. Tag them and share the link: www.wemakeevents.com/gcsu
Write to your MP – now easier than ever
“We need you to help us explain to the Government why it’s so vital they recognize the situation the live event supply chain is in, and to do something about it. We’ve made it easier than ever to write your MP using the new form on our website.” Simply click on Write to your MP in top right corner and then enter in your postcode to begin.
Right now, much of our industry is at a breaking point, and by backing these three simple steps you could be instrumental in making a difference.
