Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair Draws 17,000 Trade Buyers

The 45th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and 14th Salon de TIME drew more than 17,000 trade buyers from 115 countries and regions during their five-day run at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The events, which concluded Sept. 5, brought together more than 630 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions. Buyer attendance increased from North America, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and Latin America, according to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

International buyers drive results

Buyers from outside Hong Kong came primarily from the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, India, Japan, Russia, the United States, and several Southeast Asian markets.

Salon de TIME featured more than 150 brands, while its Microbrands zone included 29 brands from eight countries and regions. Together with the concurrently held CENTRESTAGE fashion event, Salon de TIME also recorded more than 20,000 public visits.

HKTDC Associate Executive Director Smilely Lam said the fairs brought together manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, collectors, and buyers from around the world.

“This year, Salon de TIME attracted more than 150 brands from across the globe, achieving a record scale and further enhancing the fair’s international profile and diversity,” Lam said.

Survey finds positive sales outlook

HKTDC surveyed about 890 exhibitors and buyers during the fairs. Half said they expect overall sales to increase during the next 12 to 24 months, while 43 percent expect sales to remain stable.

Respondents identified Latin America, Korea, the Middle East, Australia, and South Africa among the markets with the strongest growth prospects during the next two years.

Several exhibitors also reported new orders and international buyer contacts during the event, giving organizers additional evidence of business generated on the show floor.

HKTDC’s Click2Match business-matching platform will remain open through Sept. 12, allowing exhibitors and buyers to continue discussions after the physical events.
