Hyatt Regency has expended its brand in southern China, opening a new property in the southern Chinese city of Xiamen to serve the city’s convention center. Named the Hyatt Regency Xiamen Wuyuanwan (at right), the venue has 300 guest rooms, 27,000 square feet of meeting space, and a 10,000 square-foot ballroom.
Xiamen, which is a coastal city in the Fujian Province, has a busy port as well as a deep manufacturing base, and the city has increasingly attracted shows aimed at the industrial sector. The new Hyatt Regency is located in a growing commercial area that currently includes an office tower and retail space, though officials say the area will continue to expand around the hotel and the Xiamen Gaoqi International Conference and Exhibition Center.
Officials thanked Hyatt for expanding its brand to the developing city. “We are excited to welcome the Hyatt Regency brand to Xiamen,” said Christopher Koehler, vice president and managing director – operations for Hyatt in China. “This hotel is a great testament to Hyatt’s commitment to developing its brand footprint in places where our guests are increasingly traveling.”
