Hyundai to sponsor 2014 EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic

The EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic is bringing on Hyundai as a sponsor this year, providing the tournament a premier automotive presence. Hyundai’s premium activation will include vehicle displays, a hole-in-one opportunity for the all-new 2015 Genesis sedan and a donation towards the tournament, along with numerous other prizes and giveaways.

“The EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic event committee is excited to welcome Hyundai as a sponsor for the 2014 event,” said Rebecca Thompson, board member, EDPA Las Vegas Chapter. “We look forward to offering the added benefits to our participants and, of course, the added funds available for our wonderful students.”

Additionally, the two winners from the EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic will be invited to compete at the Hyundai Invitational National Final in Las Vegas at the Cascata Golf Club in October. Golfers will compete with the winners from the 50 other Hyundai Invitational tournaments.

At the Hyundai Invitational National Final, the player with the low-net score from his/her region will receive a trip to the 2015 Hyundai Tournament of Champions, PGA TOUR’s winners-only event in Hawaii. The player with the overall low-net score at the National Final will also earn a spot to play in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions Pro-Am, where the golfer will be partnered with a PGA TOUR winner.

Celebrating its twelfth year, the EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic raises funds to assist with higher education for tradeshow industry members and their immediate family. In partnership with the EDPA Foundation, over 50 scholarships have been awarded to deserving recipients pursuing degrees in special education, robotics, engineering and everything in-between.

“The EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic is a perfect fit for the Hyundai Invitational tournament series and we are excited to collaborate with them through this unique golf program,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “The players at the tournament are sure to enjoy our all-new Genesis and explore Hyundai’s interpretation of what a premium vehicle should be.”

The all-new 2015 Genesis sedan represents a bold step forward for Hyundai, continuing to build upon its successful strategy of marketing its premium models under the Hyundai brand umbrella. The new Genesis is incredibly well-equipped in every configuration, including a generous suite of standard safety and convenience features.

A feature golfers might like is Hyundai’s new Smart Trunk. The Smart Trunk system opens the trunk automatically if the smart key is detected in a pocket within a few feet of the rear bumper for longer than three seconds. This system allows the driver to keep both feet comfortably on the ground, simply waiting by the trunk a few seconds for it to open automatically, making it much easier to get golf clubs in and out of the trunk.

Hyundai’s sponsorship of The EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic is a part of a new marketing program called the Hyundai Invitational. The car manufacturer is sponsoring 50 of the most well-established charity golf tournaments across the country to connect the passion of golf fans with Hyundai’s premium vehicle lineup. First created by John Chadwick and his team at TWI Group in 2002, the EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic has raised over $50,000 since its inception toward scholarships awarded to both industry members and their families in partnership with the EDPA Foundation. The EDPA Foundation’s mission is to support three specific programs including The Randy, Industry Scholarships and Partner Schools. The EDPAF is committed to ensuring that at least 95 percent of funds raised go directly to the recipients, a goal also shared by the EDPA Las Vegas Scholarship Golf Classic.
