International Center for Exhibitor & Event Marketing elects board members

The International Center for Exhibitor and Event Marketing (ICEEM) has elected its new board of directors.

The new board officers serving terms through December 2013 are Michael Lynn, marketing director, L-3 Communications, as chairman; Doreen Biela, director, Light Speed, as immediate past chair; and Barry Siskind, president, International Training & Management Company, as board secretary.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming year and the new ideas and content that the center will create to engage exhibit managers and event marketers,” said Lynn. “It is truly an exciting and challenging time in the exhibitions and events industry and with the wealth of experience brought to the table by these leaders, we will refine our work and offerings for this market and continue to set the industry standards started under the extraordinary leadership from past chairs Doreen Biela and Kimberly Gishler, who have helped shape this new organization.”

Also voted to the board of directors for terms through December 2014 are Diane Benson, conventions manager, GE Healthcare; Glenda Brungardt, event manager, Hewlett-Packard; Jeff Masters, senior global events manager, Philips Healthcare; Joe Pulizzi, founder, Content Marketing Institute; and Ian Sequeira, executive vice president, Exhibit Surveys.

Benson has more than 20 years’ experience in the tradeshow industry and earned a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from the University of Phoenix, and she achieved her CTSM in 1996 and her gold upgrade in 2007. Benson is a long-time member of HCEA and TSEA and is vice president of HCEA for 2012 and 2013. Brungardt joined Hewlett-Packard in 1977 and has been involved in tradeshows and events for more than 20 years. She serves on many exhibitor advisory boards, including Exhibitor magazine, CES, Exhibitor show, BPA Worldwide’s Event Audits, IAEE Awards Committee and Events Task Force.

Masters has worked in all phases of the event industry for nearly 40 years. He attended Franklin & Marshall College and trained in set design at The Art Institute of Chicago’s Goodman School. Masters is a senior manager at Philips Healthcare. Pulizzi is an expert in content marketing and founded the Content Marketing Institute as well as “Chief Content Officer” magazine, a publication for content marketers. Sequeira has 27 years of experience in tradeshow and event industry research and heads Exhibit Surveys’ research operations.

The ICEEM was founded in 2008 to facilitate collaboration among various industry organizations and leaders and provide a focal point for the exhibitor and event-marketing community by offering research, expert views, international perspectives and face-to-face meetings to achieve the highest level of exhibitor and event marketing excellence.
