International Tourism Safety Conference, ISC West to co-locate in 2014

Officials with the International Tourism Safety Association, the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association and ISC West announced an agreement Nov. 25 in which they will combine and co-locate their events in 2014 all under one roof.

Scheduled to take place during the first week in April 2014 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas, the International Tourism Safety Conference is an annual gathering for hundreds of safety and security officials in the travel and tourism industry worldwide. The conference focuses on providing delegates with new information, trends, equipment, strategies and best practices in keeping visitors safe. Considered the security industry’s premier launching pad for new products, solutions and technologies, ISC West is the largest physical security tradeshow in North America.

According to venue officials, the International Tourism Safety Conference and ISC West will each manage its own event at the Sands. Select functions will be combined where appropriate and for the benefit of attendees, including marketing, shared meeting space and complementing show hours.

The International Tourism Safety Conference is hosted by the International Tourism Safety Association, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association. ISC West is event is sponsored by Security Industry Association (SIA).

Ray Suppe, president of International Tourism Safety Association and director of security for the LVCVA, said attendees among the combined events will be able to share more information and gain added insight on the latest safety strategies, technology and equipment.

“Providing a safe and secure experience for visitors is a top priority for any city’s tourism industry, and by combining our events, we’ll be able to offer more training and collaboration which ultimately helps ensure the safety of visitors in destinations and attractions here in Las Vegas and around the world,” said Suppe.

Ed Several, senior vice president and general manager, ISC Events, said ISC West is known as the launching pad for new physical security products and services.

“We’re delighted to work with the International Tourism Safety Association to bring their members to the show, where they can see the newest products and technologies that can be immediately implemented in their organizations,” said Several.

Held Apr. 2-3, 2014, with optional tours on Apr. 4, the International Tourism Safety Conference will offer Tourism Oriented Policing and Protective Services (TOPPS) certification courses prior to the event on Mar. 31-Apr. 1, 2014. ISC West will take place Apr. 2-4, 2014, with the SIA Education@ISC West beginning Apr. 1.
