Kansas City CVA announces new vice president of convention sales

John HeeneyThe Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association (KCCVA) is welcoming a new vice president of convention sales. This person brings 25 years of sales experience to the organization.

John Heeney has built a career training and mentoring companies and individuals to improve sales performance and grow business. In the past, he has done consulting work for major companies around the country.

“John has consistently delivered successful strategic sales and customer development initiatives for his clients,” said Rick Hughes, president and CEO of the KCCVA. “We are confident his leadership experience can do the same for Kansas City and take us to the next level as a meeting and convention destination.”

Heeney comes to the KCCVA from Cincinnati, where he operated his own business, Rising Tides LLC. Founded in 2005, Rising Tides is a contract sales organization representing boutique consulting firms including Echelon Management and Inhance Leadership.  The company works with business leaders to facilitate a process that accelerates growth and continuously improves performance for both the company and its employees. He is a native of the Kansas City area and a graduate of the University of Kansas. He is married with two children.

Heeney replaces Bill Bohde, who resigned his position in December. Heeney’s first day with the KCCVA will be January 3.
