Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosted 756,721 delegates in 2025, including 59,013 international delegates, and reported an estimated RM1.5 billion (approximately $367 million in U.S. dollars) in economic impact for Malaysia.
The venue also hosted 16 meetings that qualified for the International Congress and Convention Association’s 2025 GlobeWatch rankings. Malaysia ranked 32nd among 142 countries, while Kuala Lumpur placed 29th worldwide with 73 qualifying meetings.
Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre accounted for nearly 22 percent of the city’s qualifying meetings, underscoring the venue’s role in Kuala Lumpur’s international association business.
“The ICCA rankings are an important endorsement of Malaysia’s ability to deliver international association meetings that create lasting value beyond the event itself,” said Robert Hatton-Jones, deputy general manager of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. “Every congress brings together global experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and economic growth.”
Conference and Exhibition Pipeline Extends Into 2027
The venue has confirmed 19 international association conferences for 2026. According to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, those events are expected to attract more than 22,600 delegates and generate RM60 million (about $14.7 million in U.S. dollars) in economic impact.
The schedule includes the International Congress of the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control, the Congress of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies, the SPE/ICoTA Asia Pacific Well Intervention and P&A Conference and Exhibition, and the 16th Asian & Oceania Epilepsy Congress.
The center also expanded its exhibition calendar with several events making their Malaysia debut. Those shows included Malaysia Brand Day, the Remarkable Shandong Agricultural Trade Expo, and the Malaysia International Textile & Tourism Expo.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has secured more than 15 international association conferences for 2027. The forward bookings provide additional evidence of continued demand from international organizers and strengthen the venue’s long-term event pipeline.
“Competition among international business events destinations continues to intensify, making collaboration and continuous innovation more important than ever,” Hatton-Jones said.
