LVCC to provide free Wi-Fi in public areas

LVCCThe Las Vegas Convention Center, in partnership with Smart City Networks, will be expanding its free Wi-Fi access to customers in all public areas.

“In today’s always connected world, Wi-Fi is another vital tool that is essential to conducting business, and we pride ourselves in providing the best possible business environment for our visitors,” said Terry Jicinsky, senior vice president of operations for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), owners of the convention center.

The convention center and its technology provider are developing a tiered system to provide wireless access to guests of the facility.  The free basic Wi-Fi access will be available at all times in public areas.  Visitors will also have the option of upgrading to a premium connection for more bandwidth for $12.95 per day.  Exhibitor grade Wi-Fi access for tradeshow booths will continue to be provided at $99.95 per day.

“The Las Vegas Convention Center welcomes thousands of visitors and exhibitors daily, all of whom have differing needs and expectations. Keeping them connected is our top priority,” said Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks. “We are pleased to provide this new Wi-Fi service at the convention center enabling people to use Wi-Fi for their basic daily tasks, like checking email or surfing the web, for free.”

Smart City Networks continues to explore offering similar Wi-Fi services at other facilities nationwide.  The Las Vegas Convention Center is expected to be one of the first to activate the program in early 2012.
