The purchasing department at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has joined other government agencies in using Nevada Gov eMarketplace (NGEM.) NGEM is a new database that allows the department to conduct online bidding in addition to the current pen and paper type.
NGEM allows contractors and suppliers to register in one central location to receive requests for bids or proposals from all participating entities including Clark County, City of Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas Valley Water District, Clark County Water Reclamation District and the LVCVA. It is expected additional entities including the Reno/Tahoe Airport and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will join NGEM in the near future further increasing the value to suppliers.
“This is a concept that has been discussed for many years and we are extremely excited to finally have this connection with other government agencies,” said Rana Lacer, senior vice president of finance, LVCVA. “Since it streamlines the process and makes it easier to navigate, it’s a win-win for both the agencies and the individuals looking for business.”
In addition to centralized registration, NGEM allows for online publishing of solicitations by the participating entities and online submission of bids or proposals.
This new system will feature one place to update your information for all of these government agencies, automatic notifications of solicitations related to certain interests, and email notifications and electronic submissions of bids/responses.
NGEM is administered by staff from all participating government entities, and does not have its own offices or budget.
