Marina Bay Sands closes 2011 on a high after receiving its latest accolade – the CEI Asia Industry Awards 2012, declaring the integrated resort “Asia’s Best MICE Hotel” for the second year in a row. This adds to over 40 awards received in 2011, spanning across architecture and design, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), tourism including art, dining and entertainment sectors.
For the second year in a row, Marina Bay Sands has been named “Asia’s Best MICE Hotel” by CEI Asia, the leading MICE magazine, in an award voted directly by its regional readers. Readers are made up of leading planners and buyers of conferences, exhibitions and incentives across Asia. This award recognizes Marina Bay Sands for its hotel facilities for MICE delegates.
The venue was also awarded the “Special Recognition Breakthrough contribution to Tourism” by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) at the Singapore Experience Awards 2011 in October. This award recognizes contributions to the industry as well as dedication and commitment to delivering quality and compelling experiences for visitors.
Marina Bay Sands has also shown tremendous commitment throughout the year in its CSR efforts as a leading advocate of community initiatives that benefit the youth and disadvantaged children. The “Corporate Gold Award,” presented by the Community Chest Awards 2011, was yet another milestone in line with the IR’s vision of giving back to the society.
Marina Bay Sands was also recognized as the leading employer choice when it was awarded the inaugural winner of the “Recognition for the Enabling Employers Awards 2011” by the Enabling Employers Network (EEN) in March this year. The award took note of the opportunities Marina Bay Sands has created for persons with disabilities to achieve their own financial independence.
In addition to the industry accolades, Marina Bay Sands was also voted as the favorite choice destination. The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is listed on Condé Nast Traveller’s The Hot List 2011 as one of the world’s best new hotels, while the Sands SkyPark located atop the three hotel towers was voted as having the best views of Singapore by the Singapore Tatler magazine. The SkyPark was also presented a silver award at the LIAS Awards of Excellence 2011 organized by the Landscape Association of Singapore for its landscaping efforts. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also presented the expansive integrated resort the “Fire Safety Design Excellence Awards” for its comprehensive safety infrastructure.
The world’s first ArtScience Museum and its newest blockbuster exhibition, Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition, was recently voted by the National Critics Choice as the “Best New Museum of the Year 2011” and “Best New Maritime Historical Exhibition of the Year 2011” respectively.
Marina Bay Sands’ celebrity chef restaurants also bagged culinary and service awards. At the G Restaurant Awards 2011, Waku Ghin was awarded both “Best Restaurant of the Year” and “Best Celebrity Chef Restaurant (Asian)”. CUT won the “Best Celebrity Chef Restaurant (Western)”, while DB Bistro Moderne clinched the award of excellence at this distinguished award ceremony. Marina Bay Sands’ exclusive wine, Pirramimma Cabernet Petit Verdot 2007, was also presented the silver medal at the International Wine Challenge Awards 2011. The IR’s stellar F&B team also includes two award-winning sommeliers who were most recently presented accolades in national and regional competitions.
