MCCNO Names Austin Deeks as Ancillary Sales Manager

Austin Deeks has been named ancillary sales manager for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the sixth largest convention center in the nation. Deeks will be responsible for the promotion, sale and coordination of the production, technology and digital capabilities of the convention center.

As technology becomes more important to the convention center’s ability to successfully conduct events, the position of ancillary sales manager was created to dedicate more time to a client’s needs in those areas. Because of that, Deeks will be on point for clients in regards to their technology and production needs.

A graduate of the University of New Orleans, Deeks is stepping into this newly created role after eight years of service at the MCCNO. In 2011, he served as a production technician, where he installed the audio-visual equipment for the convention center’s clients. Seven years later, he was promoted to exhibit services coordinator, where he worked on the MCCNO’s front lines, coordinating services for clients during shows, and tracking debits and credits for those clients at the end of an event.

Deeks also serves on the Brand and Marketing Committee for USA Dodgeball. Before his time at the MCCNO, he assisted coaches and supervised athletes on and off the court as the University of New Orleans’ basketball team’s student manager.

With 1.1 million square feet of prime exhibit space, in an entirely contiguous hall, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center provides the largest single exhibit space in the country. The MCCNO features an award-winning staff and first-class amenities, and is the sixth largest convention center in the nation. A consistent Top 10 host of the largest conventions and tradeshows in the nation annually, the convention center is also one of the city’s “Top Workplaces.” A leading contributor to the city’s robust tourism economy, the MCCNO’s event activity has produced $90.1 billion in economic impact since its 1985 opening, including $5.7 billion in new tax revenue for state and local governments.
