Meetings + Conventions Calgary will join forces with the Virtual Edge Institute (VEI) in a multi-pronged strategic partnership. The collaboration will support both face-to-face and online educational and informational opportunities throughout the year, including VEI’s popular Virtual Edge Summit.
Calgary, a leading hub for innovative technology, will support the future of the meetings industry by helping professionals further embrace the benefits of hybrid and digital events.
“Meetings + Conventions Calgary has always been a strong advocate for face-to-face events, and believers in the power of hybrid and digital events to augment face-to-face programs and achieve business objectives,” said Peter Gregus, managing director, Meetings + Conventions Calgary. “In a world where organizations are now challenged daily to extend their global reach, we want to educate meeting professionals on how to best integrate these valuable hybrid and digital events into their own event and education portfolios.”
As the exclusive sponsor for VEI’s Digital Event Strategist (DES) certification program throughout 2015, Meetings + Conventions Calgary will offer scholarships to meeting professionals who desire to pursue their certification by supporting the application, online course and exam fees, a $1000+ USD value.
Designed to help individuals and organizations develop a means to effectively plan, produce and measure the results of their digital engagement practices, the DES certification program is already globally recognized with graduates spanning from the U.S., Canada, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Israel and Singapore.
“Meetings + Conventions Calgary’s level of support for the hybrid/digital event community is unprecedented,” said Carolyn Clark of VEI. “We are both laser-focused on dedicating 2015 to the delivery of quality educational and the advancement of the virtual discipline. The DES scholarships will assist those that have current budget constraints, but require this education to advance their organizations in 2015 and beyond.”
“The DES certification program provides meeting planners with the knowledge to run online events and teaches them how to utilize these events to extend the reach of their organization, both within its own membership or company and throughout their industry worldwide,” Gregus added.
The Q1 scholarship application deadline is Dec. 19, with recipients to be notified the week of Jan. 12, 2015. Those awarded with scholarships will be eligible to participate in the DES LIVE online 8-week course starting Jan. 28, taking place online each Wednesdays and Fridays at noon EST.
