Meetings Technology Expo to be held on May 21

MTEDCIn less than one week, event and meetings professionals will attend Meetings Technology Expo (MTEDC) in Washington, D.C. on May 21, 2012, at the Marriott at Metro Center.

This year’s one-day MTEDC includes a lineup of technology expert speakers, 16 CMP and CAE -accredited educational sessions, 24 technology demos and hands-on opportunities with a select list of innovative event technology companies all in one day. The agenda is packed with technology-specific education created by planners that desired a focused industry event. The expo will also address questions about emerging technology trends and how meeting planners can implement these solutions in their everyday life.

“This is a rare technology learning opportunity for us; event professionals,” said Jiwon McCartney, managing director, ALLURE Event & Meeting Productions. “I’ve been tasked by my clients to look for the most comprehensible meetings management solutions that will create better user experiences for our events, for our event participants, as well as our internal teams. MTEDC is a must-attend for those reasons, as well as the session content, and I can learn all of this in just one day.”

This year’s MTEDC expo will feature technology in action with highlights including multiple show apps, RFID session tracking and exhibit-hall heat-mapping, radar RFID matchmaking, and real-time pre-, at-show and post-event communities.

“What we are witnessing is that technology is progressing towards a leaner, more mobile and efficient method of capturing, delivering, and integrating all kinds of data before, during and after events,” said Paul Paone, founder, MTE. “There are so many cool tech offerings these days, planners need a focused forum where they seek the help they need in navigating through all the options, to find what will work for them and their overall event plan.”

The event’s keynote speaker is Lance Fensterman, group VP, ReedPOP, the fan-focused, fast-growing event division of Reed Exhibitions that runs quirky, popular events such as New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo.

Additional speakers include: Debi Scholar, SMMP guru, The Scholar Consulting Group; Russell Brumfield, founder, Wizard Studios Global Events; Christian Saucedo, CEO Americas, Spotme; and Greg Ruby, Greg Ruby Events Group.

This year, all exhibitors and speakers will be handing out valuable blue print and strategic how-to plans to all our attendees on how they can begin implementing their meetings tech solutions of their choice.
