Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) is continuing their mission of bringing the highest-level, global meetings community together in a format that breaks down traditional paradigms and fosters innovative thinking for business events. This year, the Global Professionals Conference – Asia Pacific was held in Melbourne, Australia, Aug. 31 – Sept. 3, 2015.
This intimate educational event of 25 global planners from top associations and corporations, along with 10 convention bureaus and centers, represented 12 countries around the world. This 2015 program featured interactive workshops and peer-to-peer learning on doing business in the Asia Pacific region. They gained a deeper understanding of cultural nuances and worked together to create a framework for how to plan and execute successful meetings in the region.
PCMA partnered with Melbourne Convention Bureau, the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, Tourism Australia, Crown Metropol, Qantas and United to integrate a truly Aussie experience with a series of networking events and local charm.
“Our Global Professional’s Conference continues to evolve and grow. This year’s program provided a platform, for our members and customers focusing on APAC, to understand the region’s potential and build a network of solution providers,” said Deborah Sexton, president and CEO, PCMA. “We worked closely with Melbourne Convention Bureau and their partners, who hosted an incredible experience for our participants. We thank them for all their efforts in making this program a tremendous success!”
“Hosting the PCMA Global Professionals Conference in Melbourne was a valuable opportunity to showcase our city to international meeting planners,” said Karen Bolinger, CEO, Melbourne Convention Bureau.
“We were delighted to show participants the best of Melbourne, both inside and outside the conference room. These key decision makers saw first-hand why Melbourne is a leading Asia Pacific business events destination. We look forward to hosting many more delegates in future as a direct outcome of the PCMA conference now that participants have experienced Melbourne’s capability, our collaborative approach and unique experiences.”
