Messe Berlin launches new events division

Messe Berlin GmbH, a trade fair company operating its own exhibition grounds, plans to combine its core business activities under Messe Berlin Guest Events.

To efficiently manage the domestic and international markets, a central sales and marketing division was created to cover congresses, guest events and shows.

“This new structure will provide our experienced teams with even better conditions for generating more business, offering the best possible advice to our customers, harmonizing services and attracting an optimum number of events to our venues,” said Dr. Ralf G. Kleinhenz, vice president, Messe Berlin Guest Events.

Kathleen Kolm will head the Sales and Marketing Division of Messe Berlin Guest Events.

Messe Berlin’s event business comprises its in-house events, including international trade fairs, congresses, guest exhibitions and events soon to be marketed as one brand. These events all take place at Berlin ExpoCenter City, Berlin ExpoCenter Airport and in the CityCube Berlin.

Messe Berlin targets new record turnover in 2014

The Messe Berlin group of companies concluded its most successful odd-numbered financial year in its history. In 2013, with a turnover of 190 million euros (2011: 180 million) Messe Berlin posted a new record. In 2014, Messe Berlin expects turnover to reach around 250 million euros, equaling the record of 2012, a year with a similar number of events.

Congresses and guest events are certain to make a decisive contribution. Expectations will be high when the CityCube Berlin, a multi-purpose hall for trade fairs and congresses, opens in May with the national conference of the Confederation of German Trade Unions. The venue will hold 11,000 participants. At the same time, the ICC Berlin will terminate operations in to undergo extensive restoration work.

Further conference highlights await, with the CityCube hosting the World Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation (May 18 – 23). Numerous large-scale medical congresses will follow, including the Diabetes Congress 2014 (May 28 – 31), the Medicine and Health Congress in the Capital (June 25 – 27) and the annual conference of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP, Oct. 18 – 22).
