MGM Expands Meeting Space in Las Vegas

MGM Resorts International has announced a 900,000-square-foot expansion of meeting and convention space at several of its Las Vegas properties, including the MGM Grand Conference Center and venues new to the market.

Las Vegas is recognized as one of the world’s premier meeting and convention destinations, bringing 6.5 million business travelers in 2018, and the number is projected to increase in 2019.

MGM Resorts plays a key role in the growth of the industry through major developments in its meeting and convention spaces, and is taking facilities to the next level with the recent expansion. The behemoth Las Vegas-based gaming company now offers more than 4 million square feet of meetings facilities, which is more than all the meeting space in Manhattan combined.

With wellness amenities, innovative designs to increase productivity and the latest connective technology, MGM Resorts is propelling conventions into the “next generation,” the company says. Convention business plays a major role in Las Vegas tourism, and MGM Resorts is committed to elevating the experience for planners and attendees alike.

Highlights of the company’s newest developments:

  • Park MGM Las Vegas: When Park MGM officially debuted on the Strip in late 2018,it also introduced a new 77,000-square-foot conference area to the city. It houses Las Vegas’ first executive meeting center–the Madison Meeting Center–as well as the Ideation Studio, a high-touch, high-tech meeting venue designed to maximize productivity for small groups. Park MGM’s facilities combine innovative, nontraditional spaces, an outdoor terrace and flexible design, filling an unmet need in Las Vegas for small groups, while offering the ability to host up to 5,000 attendees in the customizable Park Theater.
  • MGM Grand Las Vegas: A recent $130 million expansion added over 250,000 square feet to MGM Grand’s award-winning space, now totaling more than 850,000 square feet. Stay Well Meetings, the industry’s first wellness meeting experience, also expanded its footprint at the resort. Stay Well Meetings feature amenities and programs that offer healthier, more productive and creative work environments.
  • Aria Resort and Casino:Expanding its LEED Gold-certified convention center, Aria completed a $170 million addition of more than 200,000 square feet across four stories for a total of more than 500,000 square feet. Notable enhancements include stunning indoor open-air verandas and the one-of-a-kind Cypress Executive Lounge, featuring private suites, a stocked pantry, conference room and study. The venue also shines in technological advances with videoconferencing capabilities, built-in LED displays and HD projectors, concert-quality sound systems, 10Mbps wireless internet and more.
  • Luxor Resort and Casino: Appealing to small and mid-size groups, Luxor’s new 20,000-square-foot Galleria Square brings meetings and convention space total to more than 40,000 square feet. Groups can take advantage of the 8,000-square-foot Lotus Ballroom, five new meeting rooms ranging from 1,400 square feet to 1,650 square feet and a 4,700-square-foot function area. Luxor also recently redesigned more than 1,700 of its hotel Tower Rooms with a modern, distinctly residential feel and workspace area to meet the ever-growing needs of business travelers.
