New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the sixth largest convention center in the U.S., named a director of event services.
In her role, Alexis Berggren will supervise the planning and execution of all events held at the Convention Center. Berggren will head a team of nine event services managers who boast a whopping 148 years of experience at the convention center, with four members serving 28 or more years.
“Alexis is a creative, seasoned professional with strong leadership capabilities,” said Bryan Hayden, vice president of operations, New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “She will direct our experienced event services team in strengthening relationships and cultivating new ones.”
Berggren comes to New Orleans from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where she served as director of operations and event services. In that position, Berggren directed all areas of event services and operations, including event management, guest services and facility maintenance. She also acted as the primary liaison for high-profile events, including internationally recognized awards shows and multiple television specials.
Berggren brings an in-depth knowledge of the convention industry to her new position, having served in various operations management roles at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore.; the Mid-American Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Arts Incorporated in Lincoln, Neb.
Berggren currently serves on the Membership Committee of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). She previously chaired the IAVM Venue Connect Planning Sub-Committee for ‘Emerging Leaders.’
