Meeting Professionals International, UK & Ireland Chapter announced major changes to their association strategy as well as the addition of a number of MPI Learns and MPI Networks sessions, which will take place as part of their 2013/2014 event calendar.
“We have worked hard to take on feedback from all of our valued members,” said Jane Baker, commercial director, CWT Meetings & Events UK, speaking at the MPI Networking Event on October 21, which took place at Jewel, Covent Garden, London. “In our strategy meeting last month, each of the teams presented their plans for their areas and we unanimously agreed our route forward. We now have a clear and coordinated approach to membership, education, marketing and sponsorship that we believe will help all of our members become more successful.”
Central to the new Board strategy is a focus on driving new corporate membership and as a result, MPI UK & Ireland have launched their first MPI Advisory Board, made up of corporate planners, who will provide the board with direction and feedback on ideas and future strategy.
“MPI members told us how critical education was to them, so our event program for the coming year will focus on knowledge and skills development through training,” said Baker. “We’ve got interactive sessions from some of the industry’s leading experts on negotiation, presenting and being more assertive, as well as sharing the views and knowledge of some of our own industry experts, under a new event brand, MPI Learns.”
MPI will also continue to hold a monthly networking event, using venues that will attract corporate planners and with fully hosted food and drink, under a new brand, MPI Networks.
