New Jersey Chamber spearheads new convention center

Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce is spearheading the development of a more than $1 billion multi-entertainment complex in Northeastern New Jersey’s Meadowlands.

As part of the Chamber of Commerce’s proposal, the facility will house a million square-foot convention center and something not usually seen in the Meadowlands – a 250,000 square-foot casino.

In the southern part of the state lies Atlantic City, the center of gambling. Atlantic City is also far away from the target group the Chamber plans to attract –New York’s Manhattanites, who are only a short distance away.

Although they are confident, the Chamber still needs to get investors and New Jersey residents on board by the November 2015 election. According to a recent survey, only 42 percent of New Jersey residents like the idea of building a casino outside of Atlantic City. The 50 percent who are against the casino could play a role in the plan moving forward.

The Meadowlands Regional Chamber is a dynamic business service organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in the greater Meadowlands region in New Jersey.
