New York’s Brooklyn Expo Center on the horizon

Offering access to New York City as well as exhibition and event space is the upcoming Brooklyn Expo Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Brooklyn Expo Center is expected to open this fall.

Rumored to be opening this fall, the venue, which is still undergoing construction, so far seems to resemble Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on a much smaller scale.

Like Javits, in New York City, the Brooklyn Expo Center also features a floor-to-ceiling glass façade. The similarities end in terms of exhibition space, with Brooklyn Expo Center offering 28,000 square feet in comparison to Javits’ 840,000 square feet.

The goal of developer Joshua Guttman may not be to compete with Javits Center but to offer additional opportunities for meetings, tradeshows and events. As Guttman builds a functional space offering banquet seating up to 2,200, meeting rooms, offices, loading docks and more, this is becoming possible, but not everyone is in favor of the venue.

Many neighboring business owners in the district with which the Brooklyn Expo Center is located are against construction of the property. This stems from negative perceptions of Guttman following several arson-related fires of his past properties.
