Orbus helps in DuPage River cleanup

Orbus Exhibit & Display Group, a supplier of display, exhibit and event solutions, participated in the DuPage River Sweep on May 18 at Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm in Bolingbrook, Ill., in an effort to help the community clean the river and restore it to its original state.

“As Orbus continually strives to reduce its footprint on the environment, the DuPage River Sweep is a great opportunity to step out of our own four walls and help our local community do the same,” said Jim Concannon, quality assurance manager and North American ISO specialist, Orbus.

Orbus’ environmental goals reach beyond its own facilities and endeavors to improve the environment on a local scale. As recent floods devastated areas along the DuPage River, debris was sent downstream, settling in valleys, trees and pathways. Volunteers picked up garbage in and along local sections of the river, helping to clean and reduce pollutants.

The annual River Sweep has removed nearly 220 tons of garbage since its inception in 1991 by more than 8,800 volunteers.

Since 2010, Orbus has been certified with the ISO 14001:2004 Certification, which recognizes organizations’ high-level commitment to environmental protection. In addition to ISO 14001:2004, all three of Orbus’ facilities are certified to the ISO 9001 standard for a quality management system.
