Radius Display Products has announced the retirement of a long time industry veteran. It was also announced that with the retirement, another employee will be promoted to the same position.
Sherry Day-Mueller will be retiring on July 8, 2011, just after celebrating her 26th year with the company. After the retirement, Tim Bookout will be promoted to vice president of sales & marketing.
“Sherry started with our company at a time when the fabric display industry, and indeed the portable display market as a whole, was in its adolescence,” said Tim Lightfoot, president of Radius Display Products. “Since then she has guided our sales and customer service organizations through incredible growth and always did so with a personal touch. She really put the ‘friendly’ in our ‘friendly expertise,’ and her attitude spread to our staff and business partners and made us what we are today.”
Day-Mueller did not take retirement lightly, especially because of the tight bonds she has built with employees of the company and the many clients and vendors she has worked with over the years.
“This place is so much a part of me, and the people here are my family, so it is hard to think about not being here. But I really feel this is the right time for me. I would never leave without being sure the company was in a good position to move forward without me, and I think the recent changes we’ve made will insure a smooth transition. So now I can concentrate on how to spend lots of time with my kids and grandkids. I might find a beach or two or three to visit as well!”
“I know I will have some big shoes to fill when Sherry leaves,” said Tim Bookout, soon to be VP of sales and marketing. “Actually, my feet are bigger than hers, but that’s not that we’re here to talk about. I came to Radius in large part because of the attitude that Sherry instilled in the sales staff. This place is really a big family in every sense of the word. I hope to nurture that attitude as we move the company through the next stages of its evolution. I’ve worked with Radius for years as a client and representative and I always thought it would be great to be a part of the team. Once I joined the organization, I found this to be true. I’ve found it easy to fit in because we all have the same core values and ideas about the business.”
