PR News’ Digital PR Summit, a gathering of digital communicators and PR thinkers, kicks off at the Grand Hyatt New York on Oct. 16. Opening with the keynote address are two representatives from Reddit: Marta Gossage, community operations manager, and Victoria Taylor, director of communications.

Sharing their perspectives on the evolving role of the communications professional, Gossage and Taylor will talk about whose job it is to connect brands with passionate Internet communities that are creating and sharing their own content. They will introduce the best practices on how brands can engage with the growing Reddit communities.

This keynote address will prepare PR professionals for a new age in media relations in which there is often no media gatekeeper between the brand and the audience. This age has already started to make its way into present-day as the future of communications. Social media outlets, such as Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Pinterest and Twitter, are some of the prime examples.

Ready to share helpful insight at the event will be leading PR practitioners who will explain the how-tos for professional communicators who know that perpetual education is the best way to keep a competitive edge, not only for careers but also for brands.

Starting the summit festivities a day early, PR News is presenting a half-day SEO Workshop as well as the annual Platinum PR Awards Luncheon on Oct. 15. Attendees will leave the workshop with insight on how best to promote their brand as far as search engine results.
