Informa and UBM have joined forces to create the world’s largest exhibitions organizer. The planners are highlighting “The Dynamics of Transition: Our Industry’s Complex Future” at an event taking place Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in St. Petersburg, Russia. They will discuss the many mergers and acquisitions in the industry including Clarion merging with Global Sources and taking over PennWell, ITE buying most of Ascential’s shows, Freeman acquiring Infosalons and others.
The organizers note that besides mergers and acquisitions, these past months have seen more and more changes to the traditional tradeshow format. Specialized niche events are thriving with an increasing trend towards marketing to visitors as opposed to selling to exhibitors. It’s all about “festivalization” of events and creating new communities.
They invite those interested in learning more about these topics and other issues facing the industry as well as those hoping to understand what is happening in specific regions to attend and to participate in an economist’s roundup to discover what will shape the exhibition industry in 2019. Professionals from inside and outside the industry are set to discuss current trends and challenges. The organizers plan to have unique networking events and opportunities.
