As the summer heat begins to wane, golf enthusiasts and trade show professionals alike are gearing up for one of the industry’s favorite events—the 30th Annual Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic (RSMGC) AKA “The Big Randy.”

This year’s event is set for September 26 at the beautiful Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga., promising a day of golf, good times, and giving back.

A Tradition of Support and Remembrance

For 30 years, the RSMGC has been more than just a golf tournament. It’s a beloved tradition in the trade show community, bringing together friends and colleagues for a great cause: supporting industry members in need. Organized by the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA), the event helps those facing tough times.

Remembering a Colleague

This year, the RSMGC will pay tribute to Steve Bierbreyer, a cherished industry veteran who passed away last December after a long battle with cancer. Steve’s career spanned over 35 years, during which he became known not just for his professional skills but also for his kindness and mentorship. For 25 of those years, he served as the City Manager for Sho-Link in Miami, leaving a lasting impact on many in the industry.

Steve’s legacy is carried forward by his wife, Susan, his sons Ross (wife Jordana), Scott (wife Ran), and his grandchildren Percy, Lyra, and Duncan. His dedication to the industry and the people in it will be fondly remembered at this year’s event.

An Invitation to Join

Ready to tee off for a good cause? Registration for the event is now open, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether as a golfer or a sponsor. Participants are encouraged to register early, as spots are expected to fill up quickly. Even if you’re not a golfer, you can join the fun at the evening barbecue.

Obermeyer has emphasized that you don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy the event. It’s all about coming together as a community and showing support for colleagues in need.

The Power of Sponsorship

The RSMGC wouldn’t be possible without its generous sponsors. This year’s supporters include:

  • Corporate Sponsors: beMatrix USA, Coastal International, CSI Worldwide, EACA/EDPA Atlanta Chapters, EACA/EDPA Midwest Chapters, EDPA Grantors, Exhibitus, Exploring Graphics
  • Platinum Sponsors: CSI USA, Nth Degree, Sho-Link
  • Gold Sponsors: BlueHive Exhibits, Laborinc.ca
  • Silver Sponsor: Under One Roof

New sponsors are always welcome and encouraged to join this meaningful cause. For more details on how to become a sponsor, visit the RSMGC sponsorship page.

Looking Ahead

As September approaches, the excitement for the 2024 RSMGC continues to build. It’s more than just a day on the greens; it’s a chance to catch up with friends, make new connections, and contribute to a legacy of compassion and community support.

Many who attend the RSMGC find it to be a heartwarming experience, blending the love of golf with the joy of giving back. It’s a day filled with laughter, memories, and a shared commitment to helping others.
