SDCC Corp. leader recognized for organized labor commitment

San Diego Convention Center Corp.’s president and CEO won the 2013 Johns Fellowship Award in appreciation for her commitment to organized labor, at the 31st Annual John S Lyons Memorial Banquet on Sept. 7.

Carol Wallace was also presented with a resolution honoring her from the California Assembly and a proclamation declaring Sept. 7, 2013 Carol Wallace Day from the County of San Diego.  Both cited her outstanding service, leadership and commitment to area residents.

“This award is a true testament to Carol’s ongoing commitment to San Diego workers and their families,” said Phil Blair, chair of the board of directors, San Diego Convention Center Corp. and executive officer, Manpower of San Diego. “It is an honor and a privilege to work with such a strong leader who consistently puts people first.”

Under her leadership, the San Diego Convention Center Corp. is recognized nationally as a leader in collaboration and partnership with organized labor.  To ensure exceptional customer service and quality workmanship, the corporation maintains formal agreement with seven local labor unions.

The San Diego Convention Center Corp. is a public benefit corporation created by the City of San Diego to manage and operate the 2.6 million square-foot San Diego Convention Center.
