SEATTLE – January 2, 2024 – Jeffrey “Jeff” Blosser announced his intention to retire as president and chief executive officer of the Seattle Convention Center (SCC) in May 2024, having served more than 12 years in the role.

“It has been my honor and pleasure to have been entrusted with the leadership of the Washington State Convention Center Public Facilities District, more commonly known as the Seattle Convention Center. Serving as president of this fantastic organization in the Pacific Northwest is a wonderful way to wrap up my 45-year career in the venue management industry,” said Blosser. “Now that the Summit building is open and showing all signs of fulfilling its purpose of bringing a steady flow of event business to the city, the timing is right for me to pass the baton.”

In addition to his many accolades – launching a new building, guiding operations through a pandemic, serving in leadership on numerous industry boards, and being presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Venue Managers – Blosser is regarded for balancing business interests and creating a culture of engagement with staff.

“The Center has been exceptionally fortunate to have had Jeff’s leadership and knowledge during these years of significant growth. His contributions to the promotion and development of the District facilities and operations have been invaluable,” said Board Chair Frank Finneran.

Before coming to Seattle, Blosser served as the executive director of the Oregon Convention Center for 22 years where he provided strategic direction for the organization and expansion of that state’s largest convention facility. Blosser began his career in Louisville, Kentucky, and held several positions at two of the state-owned facilities over 10 years.

SCC’s Board of Directors is currently exploring options for the future structure and management of the organization in conjunction with a nationwide search to identify candidates to fill the role of CEO.
