Shepard Exposition Services, one of the country’s largest tradeshow general services contractors, created a new benchmark for its logistics services division: On-time shipment delivery is now guaranteed.
A newly signed agreement with Shepard’s primary carrier makes logistics services even more convenient, error-proof and cost-effective for exhibitors, according to company officials.
“It’s basically the same high-caliber service that they’ve been receiving, but now it’s on-time, or it’s free,” said Richard Maples, executive vice president of sales, Shepard Exposition Services. “We are basically the advocate for the exhibitor.”
Shepard’s logistics division — which handles transportation, delivery and set-up for between 500-600 events per year — lets exhibitors arrange pick-up and delivery services. They can also track and monitor progress along the way—from shipment pick-up to booth-check confirmation. Under the new agreement, exhibitors also benefit from Shepard’s preferred status with the carrier.
“We allow for any potentialities, such as weather or other delays,” added Maples. “We understand what needs to be done and are able to do more to solve problems that arise.”
The carrier relationship also ensures no driver wait time and no special fees along the way (including free warehousing if necessary), with no fluctuation in rates.
To take advantage of the guaranty, exhibitors can order logistics transportation services to Shepard shows via Shepard’s online event manual. After checkout, the order is transmitted live directly to the carrier.
