ShowNets takes Salesforce to the cloud at Dreamforce

Salesforce’s annual Dreamforce, the world’s largest nonprofit technology conference, held Oct. 13-16 in San Francisco, hosted over 145,000 attendees with more than 1,400 breakout sessions. For the past five years, ShowNets has partnered with George P. Johnson and Straight up Technologies to supply technical services to Salesforce – providing all Internet services to the Dreamforce conference.

This year’s event took over Moscone Center, Yerba Buena Gardens, several hotels and even a closed city street. Featured speakers included Hillary Clinton, Tony Robbins, Al Gore, Eckhart Tolle as well as entertainers Bruno Mars, The Beach Boys, Neil Young and Cake.

Onsite since Oct. 1, over 80 ShowNets professionals worked for weeks to ensure perfect execution.

“This is an extremely complex, yet rewarding show,” said David Bishop, president, ShowNets. “Providing flawless wireless access to every attendee and exhibitor throughout the venue and open scapes is a challenge we look forward to every year. With every attendee bringing at least two devices and requiring always-available access for texting, tweeting, Instagramming, you can imagine the demands we face.”

Salesforce founder and CEO Mark Benioff recalled that ShowNets performed its best work at past events when nobody was aware of its team’s presence. The ShowNets team constantly monitored its Internet services from its onsite Network Operations Center, located over the show floor.

In addition to Dreamforce, ShowNets provides Internet services to 15 regional Salesforce conferences and the UK.

The overarching themes of this year’s Dreamforce were innovation, fun and giving back. Each day featured a different philanthropic focus with one requesting attendees to bring canned foods to support the One Million Meals drive. The ShowNets team proudly participated by donating to the cause, adding to the total tally of three million donated meals.
