SmartCrowdz, an event website and mobile app company, announced Jan. 28 that it is waiving event transaction processing fees on all event ticket sales, registrations and donations. Only the actual credit card processing fee of less than 3 percent on event-related transactions will be applied, making SmartCrowdz the most affordable option in the event industry.
This new offer is in line with the company’s pledge to disrupt and change the outdated business model offered by current event technology vendors.
“Since our founding, we have been focused on fundamentally changing the business paradigm in the event technology industry, including the outdated licensing, transactional and project pricing models offered by traditional players,” said Randy Smith, cofounder and managing partner, SmartCrowdz. “We have flipped the model from monetizing the event technology and transactions to monetizing event traffic through advertising, sponsorships and other means.”
The new model complements SmartCrowdz’s base pricing approach of not charging for the licensing, development and management of event websites and mobile apps. While offering an option to event managers to turnoff ads and sponsorships off for a fee, the company’s principal revenue sources are event advertising and sponsorship.
“We founded SmartCrowdz to make it easy for event managers to create, market, manage and monetize events,” said Mike Lanese, cofounder and managing partner, SmartCrowdz. “We understand how planners need to keep more of what they’re bringing in financially, so we decided to make our transactions processing fees the lowest in the industry, in order to help them do so.”
Its main features include:
- Free: Creating a website on SmartCrowdz is free (no licensing, implementation, hosting or other fees) and it shares a portion of its ad revenue with event planners.
- Comprehensive: SmartCrowdz is an end-to-end event marketing, management and monetization application that helps event planners manage all aspects before, during and after an event has taken place.
- Fast to Set Up: With robust event website templates, event managers can set up and publish a basic event website without assistance in less than 15 minutes.
- Easy to Use: Event participants and attendees can intuitively navigate event websites, find activities and venues, volunteer and perform tasks, submit photos, post messages, buy tickets, make donations and much more.
