SMG acquires Premier Food Services

SMG, a facility management company and provider of food and beverage services, acquired Premier Food Services.

This acquisition will enable SMG, and its food service division, SAVOR, to broaden their base of food service customers to include some of the preeminent venues and businesses in the San Diego market.

“The addition of Premier’s business and the outstanding quality of their customer base provide us with an opportunity to share our expertise and to combine resources with these customers to continue Premier’s legacy of providing high-quality service,” said Wes Westley, president and CEO, SMG.

Acquiring Premier further strengthens SMG/SAVOR’s position as an innovative, high-quality provider of food service. Premier’s clients include iconic venues, such as the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack, The Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club at the University of California San Diego as well as, dining services at some widely recognized businesses and educational institutions in the San Diego region.

“SMG has an excellent reputation as a provider of food and beverage services, and is a perfect match for our clients, business partners and employees.  I look forward to working alongside the SMG/SAVOR management team as we transition Premier’s business to its new owner,” said George E. Karetas, founder  and CEO, Premier Food Services Inc. and Premier Food Services Management Group Inc.

Carriage Trade Catering, a well-established specialty catering business, is included under the Premier umbrella, and is included as part of the acquisition.

“We have tremendous respect for George Karetas and the Premier management team. They have built a terrific company whose culture and approach to business will mesh well with ours,” added Westley.

SMG has retained George Karetas as a consultant to assist with the transition of ownership and to develop new business opportunities throughout California.
