For exhibitors and organizers looking to take their work outside of the usual places, several destinations in the Midwest have state-of-the-art convention centers. Although the traveling might require a little more effort, moving a tradeshow to a different and unique convention center opens up the exhibiting process to a world of new possibilities.
Duke Energy Convention Center – Cincinnati, Ohio
Located in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, the Duke Energy Convention Center is over offers easy access to freeways as well as the nearby International Airport.
The Center, which opened in 1968, has over 750,000 square feet of exhibit, meeting and entertainment space. The staff at Duke can accommodate everything from a small meeting to a large national tradeshow, and the floor plan allows for easy access to several meeting rooms.
Among the amenities at the Center are full-service A/V and computer rentals as well as the nation’s largest portable projection screen.
Indiana Convention Center – Indianapolis, Ind.
The Indiana Convention Center (ICC) is located in a central place in Indianapolis. Over half of the city’s hotel rooms are within six blocks of the Center, making it an ideal place for meetings in Indianapolis.
ICC was recently expanded, giving the facility over 566,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space. Eleven exhibit halls can be combined or divided to create different-sized areas for each event. There are also 71 meeting rooms, totaling over 113,000 of space.
The Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, is adjacent to the Convention Center and has recently been home to the 2012 SuperBowl, as well as other sporting events.
America’s Center Convention Complex – St. Louis, Mo.
The America’s Center Convention Complex, located in St. Louis, Miss., is home to four different meeting facilities: Cervantes Convention Center, the Edward Jones Dome, the St. Louis Executive Conference Center and the Ferrara Theatre.
The Convention Center holds five exhibit halls, a ballroom and more than 80 meeting rooms. It offers over 500,000 square feet of exhibit space.
The Edward Jones Dome is capable of seating 67,000, and the Ferrara Theatre can seat 1,400, making them both idea locations for large meetings and group gatherings
Monona Terrace Convention Center – Madison, Wisc.
In Madison, Wisc., is a 250,000-square-foot, multi-level convention center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Monona Terrace Convention Center has over 37,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space and can accommodate groups of any size.
Monona Terrace also has two exhibit halls, each with over 18,000 square feet of space, as well as several ballrooms, totaling another 20,000 square feet.
Among the amenities at Monona Terrace is a full-service catering company capable of providing a menu for everything from continental breakfasts to corporate receptions.
McMorran Place, Port Huron, Mich.
McMorran Place, located in Port Huron, Mich., is a large entertainment complex consisting of an arena, a pavilion and a theater.
The pavilion, which features over 25,000 square feet of space, can be used for tradeshows, banquets and meetings of all size. The arena, which is usually home to several different sporting events, can also be used for tradeshows and has over 15,000 square feet of exhibit space.
All the necessary utilities, including a state-of-the-art sound system and a portable stage, are available for rental from the facility.
