Sparks Names Adam Charles and Grant Ogburn to Executive Roles

Sparks has expanded its senior leadership team with two executive appointments focused on client strategy and business growth.

Adam Charles has been named chief client officer and head of Events & Experiences, a newly created role. Grant Ogburn has joined the Philadelphia-based experiential marketing agency as chief growth officer. Both report to Melissa Levy, president of Sparks.

Charles takes expanded client leadership role

Charles joined Sparks in 2024 to lead the expansion of its corporate events, exhibits, and brand experience business. In his expanded role, he will oversee client partnerships with a focus on business outcomes and long-term relationships.

Before joining Sparks, Charles spent more than a decade with The Freeman Company, including serving as executive vice president of Freeman’s agency business. His career in marketing and live events spans 30 years and includes fashion shows, international sporting ceremonies, broadcast work, and consumer marketing campaigns.

“The best thing that can happen after any event or experience is a client who walks away knowing it worked — for their business, for their audience, for their brand,” Charles said. “That’s what I’ll be focused on: making sure every client, at every level of our business, feels like we’re as invested in their success as they are.”

Ogburn joins to lead growth

Ogburn joins Sparks from dentsu, where he served as chief growth officer for Media North America. Previously, he was global chief growth officer at UM, part of IPG Mediabrands.

According to Sparks, Ogburn helped secure billions in net new media billings during his time at UM, including business from GEICO, General Mills, Levi’s, L’Oréal, and Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines.

Earlier, Ogburn served as chief marketing officer of Production at Publicis Groupe, where he launched Publicis Production Services and worked on rebuilding the company’s experiential business following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The brands that are winning right now are the ones that show up for their customers in ways that actually matter,” Ogburn said. “Sparks already delivers that. My job is making sure more clients get to experience it — and that we build the infrastructure to scale what makes clients successful here.”

Levy said the appointments bring together client leadership and business development as Sparks expands its work.

“Client success is our only goal,” Levy said. “When our clients win — when their brands break through and their events move the needle — that’s what drives everything else we do.”
