SPTechCon Acquired by ExpoDevCo

Officials have announced that Exposition Development Company Inc. (ExpoDevCo) has acquired The SharePoint Technology Conference (SPTechCon), a technology education conference, from BZ Media for an undisclosed sum.

The eight-year-old conference has held 20 events at which it provides training for information technology and general office professionals working with Microsoft productivity software, specifically SharePoint and Office 365 products. BZ Media CEO Ted Bahr said it draws an attendance of more than 1,000 annually.

Upcoming SPTechCon events will enjoy continuity, ExpoDevCo CEO David Audrain (pictured right) said, because a key part of the sale was for Stacy Burris, BZ Media vice president of events, to join ExpoDevCo as event director of SPTechCon. Burris has produced all 20 SPTechCons that have taken place to date, and her ongoing leadership role ensures a seamless transition from BZ Media to ExpoDevCo, Audrain said.

Burris said her new position will allow more time to focus on growing the event. “I am thrilled to be able to concentrate on the SharePoint market and help take SPTechCon to new heights. I’m looking forward to personally expanding the special and unique relationship with speakers and leaders in the tightly knit SharePoint community,” she said.

ExpoDevCo is owned and operated by partners David Audrain and Stephanie Everett, who have a combined 40 years managing exhibitions and events. “Stephanie and I are thrilled to have this opportunity to add the SPTechCon Events to the ExpoDevCo portfolio,” said Audrain. “Ted and his team have built a wonderful event and we look forward to continuing to develop the market for this brand.”

BZ Media will manage the SPTechCon scheduled for November 2018, after which management of the show will officially change hands.
